Afternoon Paddle to Port Moon

Set off from the quiet harbour at Dunseverick and paddle West for around 15 minutes, perhaps stopping to take in the gully beside the Slough and Dunseverick Falls, before arriving under the castle ruin. It is usually possible to land here, but rocky. Paddle further West across the bay for another 15 minutes to the small natural rock harbour and bothy at Port Moon. The only other way to arrive at the Port is via a well hidden, steep and usually overgrown sheep track, from the headland beside the waterfall – by sea is a much better option!

This is just a small section of the 70 mile North Coast Sea Kayak Trail stretching from Magilligan Point to Waterfoot. Further details, including booking the Port Moon bothy, can be found by following the above link. While staying at the bothy is possible, and it is a fantastic spot to visit, BBQ at etc. there are none of the 5 star luxuries you will find at Bayview Farm Cottages! So, it’s probably best to stay here, and do the trail in stages!!
